Plymouth Food Truck Festival

Take a break from the Cape weekend traffic and make a pit-stop at the Plymouth Pinehills Village Green for The Fabulous Food Truck Festival . I'm tempted to make the trek from the lower cape for this sampling feast. We've toyed with the idea of starting a food truck business. My mom was keen on gourmet hot dogs while I pushed for popsicals (exotic and homemade). Alas, our days of making millions off of a fleet of aluminum trucks is but an entrepreneurial dream. Until then, maybe I'll saunter down to exit 3 and sample the gourmet offerings of these great food trucks. Plus, with live music, face painting and balloons - this is a great way to break up the sometimes seemingly endless car ride to the Cape.

I would love to try out the offerings of Bon Me - offering Vietnamese inspired fare. How good does their sandwhich sound? A toasted baguette filled with pickled carrot and daikon, cucumbers, cilantro, red onion, housemade mayo, housemade pate with your choice of spice rubbed chicken, bbq pork or tofu and shiitake mushrooms. I'd wash that down with a tall glass of Thai basil limeade thank you very much!

What to expect (taken from the event website):

Grilled Cheese Nation – Paying homage to the fromage! Boston’s own guru of gouda will be serving up America’s favorite comfort food with “shots” of tomato soup.

Jasper White’s Summer Shack – This “clambake on wheels” is where you’ll find Chef White offering his savory lobster rolls, clam chowder and corn on the cob.

Bon Me – A winner of the 2011 Boston Food Truck Challenge, Chef Allison Fong brings a gourmet Asian flair to this rolling culinary convoy with her vibrant Vietnamese-inspired dishes.

Kick Ass Cupcakes – This well-known team of artisan bakers is now on wheels, dishing out world-class cupcakes by the baker’s dozen. With flavors ranging from traditional to exotic.

The Eat Wagon – The name says it all. Chef Will Gilson and co-founder Aaron Cohen will be serving all-American favorites such as grass-fed beef burgers and gourmet hot dogs and tacos.

The Froyo Truck – Here’s a refreshing treat that’s exciting and healthy. The FroYo Truck’s cool, swirly yogurt combinations may be complemented by Belgian organic waffles and fresh fruit.

Red Barn Coffee – Need a caffeine boost? The Red Barn baristas have your espresso shots, lattes and Peruvian coffee blends right here, along with delicious organic baked goods and pastries.

Café Olio – Make sure you leave some room for some chicken salad from The Pinehills’ very own Café Olio. They’re not on wheels, but they definitely know how to roll.

The Market – Another home town favorite, The Market will feature a real delicacy: sushi freshly prepared by their resident sushi chef, Chef Ruyi. Just add wasabi!

Stop by the Long Ridge Wine and Spirits tent for an afternoon beer tasting by Mayflower Brewing Company from Noon – 3pm and Cisco Brewers from 4 – 7pm. (21+ ID required for sampling)
